Carl H. Weisser, 83: Born to the late Karl and Helen Weisser in Bronx, N.Y. passed November 3, 2018. Raised in N.J. where he played football in H.S. having a winning season in 1950. He coached ice hockey and was a Deputy Mayor for the City of Excelsior, MN.
Served his country in Korea and was discharged from the Army in 1957. He used his GI bill to attend Marietta College. Owned, and operated Leo’s Italian Restaurant which brought the first pizza and hoagies to the area. After managing the Marietta Country Club, he moved his family to Minnesota where he managed St. Cloud and Golden Valley Country Clubs, started a real-estate company, managed the Burlington Northern Employee Cafeteria, and the Point of France Condominiums before retiring to Homosassa, Florida. Carl would return to Minnesota every summer being sure to attend the Minnesota State Fair with his family.
Survived by his wife Mabel Weisser; children: Billy (Kim) Dobbins, Terry (Paul) Gjersvik, Monika (Pete) Zoretic, Helene (Ellis) Brown, and Alex Weisser; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; siblings: Arthur (Barb) Weisser, Walter (Dianne) Weisser, and Mary Lou (Ed) Muller.
Carl’s favorite saying was “My family is my wealth.”
'There will be a Celebration of Life for Carl on July 27th from 4 - 7 PM on the Lady of the Lake paddleboat in Excelsior, MN. Please RSVP to Helene Brown by July 15th so we can plan for the appropriate number of people. There will be a catered picnic buffet. Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of time for boarding at the main Excelsior pier at 8 Water St. in Excelsior. Also, please plan to share one of your favorite memories of Carl as we sit around and honor the wonderful man that he was.'
