Dianne E. Tiano, 67, Inverness, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 surrounded by her family and friends under the loving care of Hospice House, Lecanto, FL.
Born in Newark, NJ she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Bella (Tiano) Mustacchio.
Dianne retired from the Newark (NJ) Board of Education after 31 years where she served as a teacher and then Supervisor of Staff Development.
She was also a member of the Air Force Reserves serving for 27 years before retiring as a Colonel. Her deployments included Enduring Freedom, Desert Shield/Desert Storm. She also served for several years in Cuba at GTMO both as a military officer and a civilian consultant.
Survived by: her sister Patricia Simpson, Hillsborough, NJ; Niece Melissa (Robert) Miller, Hillsborough, NJ; Nephews: Anthony Mustacchio, Scottsdale, AZ; Richard (Robyn) Mustacchio, Howell, NJ; 2 Great Nieces: Deanna & Arianna; 2 Great Nephews: Anthony, Nicholas, Zach, & Aidan; her loving pet dog Tyler; as well as many good and loving friends. Dianne was predeceased by her husband John J. Tickner and her brother Anthony Mustacchio.
Dianne filler her retirement with many friends and volunteer activities: she kept in touch with the military through her involvement in MOAA, a military officers association; her love of animals led her to work with fostering/adoption of stray and/or abandoned dogs at the Citrus County Animal Shelter.
A quiet, yet out-going and adventurous person, Dianne was always looking for new places to visit and new friends to meet.
Internment at the National Cemetery, Bushnell. Date and time to be announced.
