Edwin Joseph Budd Sr

Edwin “Buddy” Joseph Budd Sr., 81, Hernando, FL, passed into the presence of Jesus April 6, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Edwin was born in Phillipsburg, NJ, on April 26, 1943, to the late Joseph L. Budd and Josephine (Lesko) Budd.

Edwin was a 1961 graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Phillipsburg, NJ where he played left end for the Stateliners, and was on their wrestling and track teams. His passion for football began playing left end in the Pop Warner league, Firth town boys club and Phillipsburg High School.

He was an officer with the Easton Police department, serving in their K9 unit and rising to the rank of sergeant before his retirement in 1978 from the department. Edwin was a member of the Easton Emergency Squad, Reliance Hose and Lincoln Hose volunteer fire departments. He and his wife, Alice owned many businesses in the Easton area before moving to Florida in 1987 where he was a Certified Financial Planner

Edwin’s greatest love was his relationship with his savior, Jesus Christ. He was an active member of Providence Baptist Church, Lecanto, FL. His hobbies included fishing, football, classic cars, and 50’s music.

Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Cindy L. Hiskell (Raymond), Yalaha, FL, Joseph E. Budd (Sherry), Boca Raton, FL, Edwin J. Budd Jr. (Sandy), Lake Panasoffkee, FL; his sister, Patricia J. Budd, Easton, PA, sister Carol Valiente, Sebring, FL; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Alice E. Budd.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Lecanto with Reverend Martin Hoffman officiating. A private burial will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Floral City, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Providence Baptist Church, Lecanto, FL.
