Frances Jo Bates

Frances Jo Bates (Hale), lovingly known as "Cookie," was born on July 20, 1946, and passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, in Inverness, Florida. Her life was a testament to love, devotion, and the enduring strength of family bonds. Cookie was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy (Chiesa) Hale and Orval Hale; her brothers, Jerome and Truman Hale; and her beloved husband of over 50 years, Dorwyn Ray Bates. Together, Cookie and Dorwyn built a life defined by unwavering love and mutual respect. Their partnership was a shining example of commitment and devotion that inspired all who knew them. She is survived by her two children: Danielle Bates (Alan Gallant) and Christopher Bates (Jennifer Timoteo). Cookie’s legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren—Dustyn Howard, Jeffrey Timoteo, Cienna Bates, Jayden Bates, and Emilee Bates—and her three great-grandchildren: Addison Howard, Braylee Howard, and Carson Howard. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Mary Hale and Lois Reid (John), as well as her sister-in-law Barbara Smock. Family was the heart of Cookie’s world. She found immense joy in nurturing those she loved most and took great pride in watching her grandchildren grow into remarkable individuals. Her home was a haven of warmth and love—a place where countless memories were created and treasured. Cookie’s kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her gentle spirit and genuine care for others left an indelible mark on the lives she encountered. Though she is no longer with us in body, the love she shared so freely remains an everlasting gift to those who held her dear. May Frances Jo "Cookie" Bates be remembered for the boundless love she gave and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. Her memory will forever bring comfort to those who mourn her passing while celebrating the beauty of a life well-lived. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
