Gerald "Jerry" Merrick, II, 74, died comfortably at home on January 2, 2019.
Originally from upstate New York, Florida has been his home since the '70s except for a few years spent in Pennsylvania and Nashville. As a singer songwriter, his life was full of poetry, lyrics and melody. He produced 2 albums, one in the '60s and one in the '90s with the most notable songs being "Follow" and "Guess I'll Pack My Things" both released in the '60s. In the '70s his focus shifted to raising his family, along with his wife Gail, and volunteering his time to help others come to learn the truths found in God's Word. He was beloved by many for his kind manner, energetic zeal and sense of humor. His ever present smile accessorized by his trademark hat will not soon be forgotten.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Polly (Bob) Haines and Laurie (Greg) Willis, a son, Daniel (Lisa) Merrick, 3 daughters, Rebecca Stogsdill, Naomi (Donald) LaClair, Jessica (Pavel) Stehlik, and a grandson, Devlin Merrick. A funeral talk will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 1175 S. Skyway Ave, Homosassa, FL on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.
