Gladys Bloom, age 86, left her earthly body on August 7, 2017 to go home to be with her Lord and savior and her loved ones who have already made the journey. Hopefully there are signs posted how to get there because she had ZERO directional sense.
Born to Pauline and William Snitker, she spent most of her childhood in Delavan, WI. Her siblings include Lavonne Tietz from Waukon, IA, Carol (Marciel) Luna from Buckeye, AZ. Gladys was predeceased by her brother, Alvin Snitker, who died in an auto accident many years ago.
She met her husband at the Ace High Roller Rink. Eugene "Sy" Flint was the guy with the whistle around his neck and they fell in love, married, and had a family. Rhonda (Nick) Green was first born and Dawn Clark followed shortly after. She spent most of her early adult life raising the girls.
Gladys overcame many obstacles in life including breast cancer twice, macular degeneration, and being short. She took it all in stride with little complaining. Her motto in life was "never pass a bathroom without using it."
Last year, she moved from Milton to Florida. Both of her daughters now live there, together with Rhonda's sons and families: Matt Green and children Landrea and Connor, her four-legged grand-puppies Suri and Dea, and David & Tambry Green, and their son, Austin. Gladys left behind many nieces and nephews, mostly from the Janesville area and Jean Spaulding, who is the twin sister of her former, predeceased husband.
She also left behind a church family, whom she dearly missed this past year. She was a member of Hope Lutheran in Milton for 30 years and there was a line of folks every Sunday to hug her before she went home. She made many friends at Homestead Apartments in Milton, particularly her best friends Sandy Brovold and Gwen Wehe.
A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, August 12 at 10:00am at St. Paul's United Methodist church in Ocala.
Gladys' favorite hymn was "I Can Only Imagine." Well, mom, you
are surrounded by His glory…is it all you imagined?
