Glenn Edward Vallance of Hernando, Florida (formerly of Waterford, Clarkston and Pontiac, Michigan) passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022. He was 87 years old. Glenn was born in 1934 to the late Harvard and Garnet Vallance in Pontiac, Michigan. Golf was always a big part of Glenn’s life. From stealing a golf ball at the age of 3 (a golfer spanked him and said “You don’t find golf balls in the middle of the fairway!”), to volunteering to provide his school with a Christmas tree which he conveniently discovered on the golf course (he got caught again!), Glenn was always finding things on the fairway. But nothing compared to Suzanne Hudson Vallance, his wife of 29 years, whom he met on a blind date over drinks in the clubhouse. When Glenn volunteered for the Army, he was told that he would be repairing artillery, but his golf swing garnered attention, and he spent most of his time touring courses in Europe and giving lessons to senior officers. As a civilian, Glenn worked with Thompson-McCully (formerly Ann Arbor Construction) building roads for 40 years. He wintered in Florida, California, and Arizona where he continued golfing in his spare time. Glenn was generous and a true gentleman. His babies loved him and were proud to call him daddy. His grandchildren knew that he would always cross the country for their graduations regardless of the distance. They will miss his jokes (especially the one about Popeye) but promise to pass them on. Glenn is survived by his three daughters, Kimberly (Joseph Shaw), Michele (Mark Drake), and Jacqueline (Marshall Ronin), his eleven grand children, Jeremy (Sonya), Jason (Jessica), Shelley (Joel), Aaron, Jared, Sarah, Rebekah, Kristen, Jenna (Anthony), Audrey, and Mitchell, his twelve great-grand children Arianna, Lexie, Gabby, Madison, Matthew, Makayla, Summer, Anna, Lilly, Addie, Evelyn, and Jacob, his great-great-grand children Noah and Aiden, four of his siblings Bob, John (Charlotte), Betty (Doug Roberts), and Linda (deceased: Art, Chuck, Janet and Brad), his two in-laws Donna Vallance and Chuck Peterson, and two of his fur babies Bubba & Rona (deceased: Frankie Jo).
Thank you to Jackie, Joanne, Hannah, and Margherita at All About Caring, all of the angels at Life Care Center of Lecanto, and Jade, Ciara, and all of the other angels at Cypress Cove. Glenn’s celebration of life will be determined at a later date. Stay tuned for news at eleven!
