A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Spring Hill on Thursday, July 16 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial gifts in honor of Mickey may be made to: St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church 2301 Deltona Blvd. Spring Hill, FL 34606 Mickey will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery.
Mickey grew up mostly in Northern Virginia. She was a championship horseback rider in her teens, graduated from Penn Hall Preparatory School in PA in 1945 and earned a BS in Home Economics from George Washington University in 1950. She married George Kriner in 1950; they lived in Rockville, MD where she ran several successful businesses out of their home for many years. She was an exceptional cook, home decorator, entertainer, and always had a love of fashion - Mickey was known for her style and dressed impeccably. She took up golfing in her 30s and became proficient in the sport; she was a member at Columbia Country Club. George Kriner died in 1992 and she married George Smith in 1997. They traveled extensively to all parts of the world and split their time between homes in MD and FL. George Smith died in 2011 and Mickey continued to live at Glen Lakes in Weeki Wachee until her move to Grand Living at Citrus Hills in Hernando in January 2020. She is survived by her sister Lyn Erickson of Maui, HI, niece Anne Campbell (Mark) of Novi, MI, nephew Stephen Clabuesch (Cecilia Shin) of Santa Cruz, CA., and stepson Andrew Smith (Penny) of Thomasville, GA. She also had two grand nephews (Kyle and Sean), one grand niece (Piper), one great grand niece (Emma), two grandsons (Griffin and Tyler), and countless friends.
