Laurene “Lorry” Taylor streaked into the world like a meteor – loud and bright, on March 4, 1957. She went out gently like a candle, lovingly surrounded by those that she illuminated along the way. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts to John and Mary Lynch as the eldest of four siblings: John (Amor) Lynch, Michael (Lynda) Lynch, and Leeann (Paul) Dixon. While she eventually followed her traveler’s spirit away from New England, she refused to drop the accent or the tenacity of a girl from Southie. She married Michael Taylor on 02-02-02 at 2:02pm. Their love for each other nauseated the children. It is (present-tense) what we’re taught love should be: Patient, kind, joyous, dedicated, unyielding, and full of the kinds of inside jokes that Michael will continue to laugh into his morning coffee as he carries the memories of that love for the both of them now. He will continue to love Marley, their idiot husky, with the same level of adoration she held for that dog. Lorry was the outspokenly proud mother of five: Noelle, a cherished daughter lost at birth, sons Daniel (Diana) Burdick, Terrence Burdick, Christian Burdick, and daughter Jillian (Aaron) Way. She taught Danny how to dodge a flip flop when he was mouthy, but also cultivated in him an unparalleled work ethic and appreciation for God’s many blessings. She showed Terry that her support was unconditional, and that no matter the distance that might separate them, her arms were his home. He continues to share that same limitless dedication with others. Lorry gifted Chris the good sense that a shirt should always match the shoes, and the brazen sense of invincibility that comes with constantly being told you’re the favorite child. Into Jillian, she poured a quick wit, verbosity (….obviously), a love for baked goods, and every ounce of compassion and capacity for forgiveness one person could hope to impart in another. Through many mistakes and even more triumphs, she raised children who love her and each other intensely, and they remain unfailingly grateful. They will continue to strive to pass those lessons on to the whole mess of grandkids she leaves behind that terrorize her children. Lorry (“The Cookie Lady” to some) was a gifted and enthusiastic baker. She was a talented crocheter and found tremendous joy in sharing the fruits of those gifts with others. Her greatest hobby, however, was collecting hobbies. Craft suppliers will miss her nearly as much as the family and friends she leaves to remember her. Above all else, Lorry loved Jesus. She found a church home and family at The Church of Jesus Christ in Homosassa Springs, FL. She spoke often of her church family and spoke of them with great love. While the last several years of Lorry’s life included numerous health challenges and unimaginable personal tragedies, her church family kept her grounded in her faith and the promise of things yet to come. Those things have come. She fought the good fight, finished her race, and kept her faith. She closed her eyes on earth only briefly before opening them in heaven to greet her waiting parents, baby daughter, treasured son Chris, and the all-encompassing love of her Father in Heaven. For that promise, her friends and family rejoice. For a beautiful life, well-lived and freely shared, we remain thankful.
