Homosassa

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Marlene Marie Swiger, unexpectedly left this world to be with the Lord on October 27, 2024. Born on June 23, 1952, in Wheeling, WV, she was the cherished daughter of Daniel and Grace Ellen (McDonald) Mozingo, Jr. After graduating from Union High School in 1971 and raising her family, she embarked on a new chapter in her life by making a significant move from Wellsburg, WV to the sunny shores of Homosassa, FL in 2000. Marlene dedicated many years to retail management at Beall's Outlet, where her warm personality shone brightly. She found joy in simple pleasures—watching her favorite talk shows and indulging in the thrilling adventures on the Syfy channel. Her love for crossword puzzles, reading, and crocheting showcased her creative spirit, while her culinary skills made every family gathering a delightful feast. With a hearty laugh and a smile that could light up any room, Marlene had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome. She never met a stranger; her friendly conversations left lasting impressions on all who crossed her path. Her beloved kitty, Susie Q, was a constant companion, embodying the affection she so generously shared with her family. Marlene’s greatest joy came from her family. She selflessly put their needs above her own and dedicated her life to nurturing her children. She is survived by her loving daughters, Korena and husband John Friedhof of Hernando, FL, and Deonna Hamilton of Wellsburg, WV; her sister Dana Beaman of TX; granddaughters Madisyn Friedhof and Chelsey Ewing; grandsons Andrew and Daniel Hamilton; and great-granddaughter Amiyah Ewing; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marlene was truly the heart and soul of our family. Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her beautiful life will be held at a future date, where we will honor the incredible legacy she leaves behind.
