Ray Marshall Schoonover, 92, of Dunnellon, Fla., died Jan. 13, 2014, from a stroke. Ray Schoonover was the beloved son of Carl and Clara Schoonover and the devoted husband of Frances B. Schoonover.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; daughter, Sandra McKown; grandson, Craig Knoll; four step-children; five step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson.
Ray worked in the telecommunications industry and was also a real estate investor. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He and his wife traveled extensively across the country, often by train. He was loved by the South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses where he was active until the end of his life. He also enjoyed music (piano, harmonica, and barbershop quartet) and collected train schedules. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
