Richard (Dick) Robert Krauss passed peacefully February 2, 2024 at the age of 92. He was born in Methuen, MA April 24, 1931 to Henrietta (Warner) and Edward Krauss. He had a brother Edward and sisters Barbara and Bernice. He is predeceased by his daughter Patricia Krauss Bilyeu. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Cynthia (Carroll) Krauss, daughter Donna Krauss Salvadori, grandchildren Sean and Patrick O’Connell, John and Michaela Salvadori, Amber Krauss, and Kellan Senn, several great grandchildren, and his extended families (Belden, Carey, Cadman, French, Renzi, and Stone).
While attending St. Monica’s in Methuen and enrolled in the CYO, Dick developed into an all-star baseball player. He attended Methuen High School (class of 1950), where he earned 12 varsity letters among baseball, football, basketball, and track. In 1986 he was inducted into Methuen HS Hall of Fame. He won 6 consecutive MVP awards and was honored as the top pitcher in Class A fast pitch softball in Massachusetts. He attended Boston University and Lowell Technological Institute.
Dick was a member of the US Coast Guard and his career included positions at Bell Laboratory, AVCO, and Raytheon. While with Raytheon, Dick and Cindy moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1974, where they resided for 4 years, and were welcomed by the Zamarchi family, who became lifelong friends.
Dick and Cindy lived in Andover, MA and Windham, NH. They moved to Citrus Hills in Hernando, FL in 1998. Dick spent several years working at the Meadows Golf Course.
Dick was blessed with beautiful blue eyes, a quick mind, and an excellent sense of humor. He was a voracious reader and an amazing storyteller. He leaves behind countless memories of fun and laughs with special friends and family.
