Shirley Jean Young

Shirley Jean Young, 87, of Citrus Springs, Fl passed away July 4, 2013, Shirley was born in Iowa on Dec 25, 1925 and raised in Oklahoma City. Her achievements are many including a Bachelors Degree in English and Physical Education. She learned to fly while working at Tinker Airport and used to practice with the astonaut aspirant, Jerry Cobb. Shirley obtained her pilot license. She was an avid golf player with a 9 handicap and also a bridge player with master points. She was a great swimmer, ball player, pool-billiards, ping pong and vollleyball player. She travelled all thru the United States, Canada and the Vigin Islands.She lived in Hawaii and visited Alaska and Puerto Rico. She was self employed as a sign painter and bed and breakfast owner.She will be cremated leaving behind her companion-partner and friend of 49 years-Maria Valdes. She will be missed.
